Darrin has over 30 years’ experience in insurance claims work, for both defendants and injured plaintiffs. His practice includes the defence of workers’ compensation claims for insurers and self-insureds, dust diseases litigation for Comcare and several other Federal Government entities.
It also includes public and product liability claims, medical negligence and CTP claims, as well as general insurance litigation. He has practised in New South Wales and the ACT, and since 2002 in Queensland, including periods spent working in-house for a general insurer and WorkCover Queensland, where he worked from 2008 to 2010 in its common law claims division.
Darrin’s clients include several general insurers and one licensed self-insurer under the Queensland workers’ compensation insurer scheme.
Darrin’s expertise includes:
- Defence of litigated and unlitigated claims made under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitations Act 2003, and other claims processes, including dust disease litigation and claims made through the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission
- Defence of property liability claims
- Defence of catastrophic claims and defending claims of that magnitude in all spheres of personal injury litigation
- Trial work & alternative dispute resolution, including appearing at compulsory conferences and mediations.
