“This was a time in our lives, let’s honour it – Interdisciplinary collaborative practice with Susan Warda and Bernie Bolger”

Susan Warda, Partner and Team Leader of the Mills Oakley Sydney Family Law Team, and Bernie Bolger, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, sat down with Zoe Duran at the Pacifica Congress Conference live in Hobart 2023 to feature as guests on the Inside Family Law with Zoe Durand podcast.

In the podcast, Susan, Bernie and Zoe discuss all things interdisciplinary collaborative practice and how this form of dispute resolution may be used to help families in family law matters. This holistic approach allows the parties and their family law practitioners to work together with other collaboratively trained professionals including coaches, neutral financial planners or child psychologists in a team to facilitate discussions in an attempt to reach an agreed resolution.

“In Conversation with Rosie Batty: A Spotlight on Family Violence in Australia”

The Mills Oakley Family Law Sydney Team had the great honour of hosting Rosie Batty AO on 29 August 2024 for a very special keynote presentation. Rosie Batty became a household name in Australia following an enormous tragedy when her 11-year-old son, Luke, was murdered by his father in a violent incident in February 2014. Since then, Rose has become a passionate campaigner on the issue of family violence, she has led the nation’s debate on family violence and her influence has been the driving force for many reforms. In 2014, Rosie established the Luke Batty Foundation and, in 2015 Rosie was awarded Australian of the Year.

The evening shone a spotlight on the current state of play concerning family violence in Australia and why the situation appears to only be getting worse. The team heard first-hand about Rosie’s ongoing campaign to protect women and children and insight into what she thinks needs to be done to reduce the incidence of family violence.

Client Testimonials

We work hard to ensure the best possible outcomes for our client’s, and we value the feedback we receive every day. Here’s a snapshot of what some of our client’s said this month:

“I just wanted to say a BIG ‘thank you’ from the bottom of my heart, I am very happy with the outcome. Your professionalism and prompt attention to detail has greatly relieved me, and I am sincerely grateful and appreciative of your support throughout this difficult period of my life. Thank you for your dedication and for ensuring the best outcome on my behalf.”  [to Partner, Carly Mirza-Price]

“Your dedication towards everyone around you and your deep level of care and compassion is so rare in this world. I am forever grateful that you were the person who fought, believed and changed my outlook on people. Please always know that your fight on my behalf was never in vain and having this little boy by my side has been the most rewarding years of my life. You are one in a million my friend.” [to Partner, Susan Warda]

“It was poignant and emotional, and I was absolutely overwhelmed with how far I’ve come! And was terrified when I first spoke to you… I was so grateful I was standing there safe and out of danger – amazing really! Thank you Susan, couldn’t possibly be standing there feeling so strong and remembering my worth without you – you are honestly my Angel.” [to Partner, Susan Warda]
