Expertise
Sophie is Special Counsel and is based in the Melbourne office. Prior to commencing at Mills Oakley, Sophie had over 15 years’ experience at ASIC where she developed expertise in financial services law and regulation. While at ASIC, Sophie worked on major reform initiatives including the FOFA and the Quality of Advice Review. Her expertise includes:
- Financial advice, including conduct and disclosure obligations, law reform, and professional standards for financial advisers
- Financial services regulation, including responding to regulators and applications for relief
- Reportable situation regime and advising on breaches and incidents
- Design and distributions obligations, including application to financial advice industry
- Law reform and policy development, including drafting persuasive submissions in response to Government consultation
