Rachel Hendrie

Rachel is a litigation lawyer specialising in commercial litigation. She acts for corporates and high net worth individuals and her practice spans across corporate shareholder disputes, mining and resources litigation, international arbitration, corporate fraud disputes and financial service litigation (banks).

Rachel has appeared in interstate courts and has defended matters in the Federal Court of Australia, and Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

  • Acting for high-net-worths defending Supreme court claim in breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties and conspiracy allegations concerning an investment made.
  • Advising coal mine in NSW and its joint venture partners and mine operators during the lifecycle of mine project regarding various contractual and joint venture related issues.
  • Advising private Canadian company in action against Government of Alberta (Canada) in the Court of King’s Bench Alberta and project managing litigation spend with litigation funder under funding agreement terms concerning $1.4 billion claim for compensation following the Government of Alberta’s decision to reinstate the 1976 Coal Policy which cancelled our clients’ mining lease.

  • Acting for Deloitte (Administrators Appointed) in Federal Court of Australia in Sydney concerning administration of coal mine and successfully obtained orders to extend the second creditors meeting convening period.
  • Acting for high-net-worth plaintiffs in Supreme Court of Queensland proceeding for breach of contract, misleading and deceptive conduct and breach of fiduciary duty claims concerning allegations of secret commissions and misconduct via fraudulent design.
  • Acting for high-net-worth respondent in Court of Appeal regarding contempt of court charges for breaches of freezing orders resulting in dismissal of appeal and Supreme Court charges ordered remain.
