Mick is a Corporate Advisory partner in our Melbourne office. As well as general contract and commercial law, Mick has developed expertise in competition and consumer law, cybersecurity and big data, telecommunications and procurement, outsourcing and supply chain.

The industries Mick mostly works in are energy (generation to retail and everything in between) with a focus on renewables, telecommunications and information technology, and getting business structures right for providers of B2B and B2C services.

Prior to joining Mills Oakley in 2015, Mick gained a wealth of commercial experience from working as a senior lawyer for Telstra for 12 years. Mick managed the Telstra Wholesale Legal team and then the Business Support and Improvement Legal team. Key roles included:

  • Accountability for all Telstra contracts for network access and services with the rest of the telco industry, domestically and globally;
  • Writing Telstra’s Supplier Code of Conduct, and rolling it out to the supply chain;
  • Negotiations with NBN Co and industry for the National Broadband Network;
  • Overseeing Telstra’s privacy and data security regime; and
  • A major outsourcing program, including establishment of offshore subsidiaries and contact centres.

Mick was the founder and inaugural convenor of Telstra Legal’s Pro Bono Committee, and enjoys doing pro bono work for Bush Heritage Australia and other great organisations.
