Leah is a highly regarded insurance litigator specialising in public liability, professional indemnity and CTP claims across multiple jurisdictions.

She advises leading insurers on all aspects of liability, indemnity, quantum and claims strategy, and is recognised for her strategic, commercially focused approach to resolving insurance disputes of all sizes and complexities.

With significant advocacy and litigation experience, Leah regularly appears in the District Court, Supreme Court and Personal Injury Commission.  She acts for a diverse range of clients, including insurers, occupiers, owners corporations, major shopping centres and run-off insurers, providing strategic advice and effective representation throughout the life of a claim.

Recent Matters

  • Defended a catastrophic injury claim valued at more than $20 million, involving complex issues including significant damages assessment which included 24 hour care requirements, a concurrent workers compensation claim and recovery under Section 151Z of the Workers Compensation Act 1987
  • Successfully defended a Supreme Court claim (upheld at first instance) brought against an occupier by a security guard injured by an intruder during the course of his employment, involving significant occupiers’ liability issues
  • Acted for the driver and owner of a prime mover in a lengthy Supreme Court Hearing arising from a multi-vehicle accident after a shipping container rolled from a trailer, resulting in a fatality. Multiple defendants were brought into the proceedings, including the trailer owner and the company responsible for packing the container
  • Successfully resolved a complex public liability claim involving a Plaintiff who fell from a balcony in a strata complex, requiring consideration of liability, contribution and contractual indemnity issues
  • Acted for a solicitor in defending a professional negligence claim alleging an inadequate settlement of earlier proceedings
  • Successfully obtained a dismissal of a Supreme Court claim exceeding $2 million after uncovering evidence demonstrating that the plaintiff had not been involved in the alleged motor vehicle accident
  • Acted in Supreme Court Judicial Review proceedings concerning the interpretation and application of the transitional provisions for unexercised rights under the Motor Accidents Compensation Act.
