Kalinda has extensive experience in planning, environmental, and administrative law, with a particular focus on matters before the Land and Environment Court of NSW.

Areas of focus include securing approval for new property development, implementation of development consents, compulsory acquisition, land valuation and environmental approvals.

Kalinda has acted in a wide range of complex proceedings, including merits appeals, judicial review, civil enforcement.

Kalinda’s day-to-day work is advising developers, landowners and registered certifiers on planning risk, statutory interpretation and litigation strategy.

A key area of Kalinda’s work is providing strategic front-end advice to assist clients in securing and protecting development consents, resolving disputes efficiently, carrying out due diligence and achieving practical commercial outcomes.

Recent Matters

  • Advising on planning and environmental compliance obligations and site decommissioning and remediation issues associated with former chemical manufacturing sites.
  • Advising on planning and environmental issues associated with precinct scale property development including development and infrastructure contributions and agreements.
  • Providing strategic advice and appearing in proceedings in relation to a development licence issued for a waste to energy facility.
  • Acted in numerous litigious acquisitions as well as matters that have settled as a result of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including, acquisitions (acting for the dispossessed land owner) arising from the Sydney Metro West, South West Rail Link and WestConnex. Acquisitions arising from these projects include private residential, commercial, substratum land and utility easements.
