Jason’s expertise includes:

  • Significant experience in complex financial restructurings, recapitalisations, pre-packaged restructurings and consensual workouts. Jason is noted for his expertise in transactions involving debt-for-equity swaps, especially those implemented via creditor schemes of arrangement and acquisitions via Deeds of Company Arrangement.
  • Substantial international experience gained from being based in London for over a decade (from 2002 to 2012) and has acted on a significant number of high-profile and complex financial restructuring matters across Europe and the United States.
  • Advises both creditors and debtors on methods to best protect their interests in all forms of formal and informal financial restructurings and insolvencies. Clients range from senior secured lenders, insolvency practitioners, hedge funds, investment banks and private equity firms.

  • Acted for Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility in connection with its senior secured loan to Strandline Resources Limited, and subsequently acted for McGrathNicol as receivers and managers of Strandline Resources Limited.
  • Acted for Ares Management in connection with its senior secured loan to Zip Money Limited.
  • Acted for the State Solicitors’ Office in connection with the receivership of the Griffin Coal Mine.
