James leads the Melbourne Mills Oakley Property team, with 22 years’ experience advising clients on commercial development contracts, contracts of sale and leases.

James provides practical and precise legal advice to some of Australia’s largest companies. He has a strong commercial focus, a proven ability to work with key external and internal managers to achieve commercial objectives and is efficient, accurate and comfortable with complexity.

Recent roles in Melbourne have included acting for the Charter Hall/Cbus Property joint venture on the development of 171 Collins Street, acting for Lend Lease in relation to a strata office development in Collins Street, acting for Grocon on the development of the Carlton Brewery apartments and acting for AMP and GPT in relation to leases for various commercial properties.
