Danielle Dickson

Danielle has more than twenty years of industry experience practising in all areas relating to environmental and planning law, holding an architectural degree, being a qualified town planner, and lawyer.

Before joining Mills Oakley as a full-time solicitor, she also served as a Commissioner of the Land and Environment Court for a decade, a role in which she delivered written decisions in approximately 650 merit appeals, and presided over hundreds of section 34 conciliation conferences and mediations relating to property development disputes.

Danielle provides clients with strategic, practical advice informed by her multidisciplinary expertise in building and site design, planning and law, together with extensive experience working across the private sector, local government and the Land and Environment Court.

Danielle’s depth of experience as a long-standing Commissioner of the Court gives her a truly unique ability to evaluate and advise upon the strengths and weaknesses of development / planning applications, and to offer bespoke solutions and strategic advice to developers and landowners, in order to facilitate and fast-track appropriate development approvals.

Being a nationally accredited mediator, with a wealth of experience presiding over Land and Environment Court mediations and section 34 conferences, Danielle is known for her skills in steering and resolving complex development, design and legal matters.

Danielle’s expertise includes:

  • Evaluating and advising on the prospects of success, strengths, weaknesses and potential amendments to assist in the approval of development applications, modification applications, SSDA’s, building information certificates, integrated approvals, and the like
  • Steering and resolving complex development, design and legal matters
  • Advising on approval pathways and compliance with environmental legislation
  • Merit appeals in the Land and Environment Court of NSW including mediations, conciliation conferences and contested hearings
  • Advising on the drafting and interpretation of conditions of development consent, and advising on matters arising in connection with construction certificates (and post development consent issues broadly)
  • Providing clear and concise written or oral advice
  • Alternative dispute resolution.
