Carlie has also assisted clients in two recent Royal Commissions, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.

Having worked in the not-for-profit and charity sector for over eight years, firstly at the award-winning social enterprise law firm, Salvos Legal, and now at Mills Oakley, she has developed a unique practice in which she acts for clients across a full scope of front and back-end matters. Carlie primarily practices in litigation for a number of large institutions in the areas of historical sexual abuse and forced adoptions, including acting in civil claims nationally and advising clients in relation the National Redress Scheme and their internal redress processes.

In addition, Carlie advises clients on matters of internal governance, charitable and not-for-profit structures, transactions and internal dispute management and resolution.

Carlie’s experience in the not-for-profit, human rights and social impact sector has given her a breadth of understanding of organisations in the sector and an appreciation for their values and priorities, which are often very different to those in the corporate sector.
