Mills Oakley is delighted to announce the appointment of four new partners from around the country as it continues its ascension to become Australia’s leading national law firm. The latest appointments bring the total number of new entries to the firm’s partnership to 19 since January 2023.

Chief Executive Officer John Nerurker said the appointments were a key part of the firm’s strategy to invest in talented people and deliver ongoing quality service and success: “We are pleased to welcome four lateral hires to Mills Oakley as part of our continuing growth trajectory,” he said. “Each brings deep expertise in their practice area – energy and mining, corporate law, workplace health and safety and
employment law and in family law – reflecting our reach in the Australian legal sector.”

The new partners include:

• Matt Egerton-Warburton joins the partnership from Gadens in the Sydney Corporate Advisory group. Matt brings a wealth of global experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity capital markets and general corporate advisory work in London, New York and Hong Kong. Mills Oakley’s broad national scope “currently experiencing significant growth” is a key reason for joining, he said. Matt’s practice focuses on the technology, health and agricultural sectors and he is a thought leader in the nascent carbon market industry acting for landholders and carbon service providers. Matt has a significant pro bono practice, particularly involving work as deputy chair of the Mulloon Institute, a regenerative farming charity.
• Luke Nicholls this month joins the Corporate Advisory team in Perth. Luke spent more than 16 years at international firm Allen & Overy, including four years in the London office. Luke moves to the partnership attracted to the vision Mills Oakley offers, and also the way the firm is run. “There’s a willingness to grow the offering in Perth in Corporate Advisory,” he said. Luke is looking
  forward to expanding his practice with a national focus. He will continue to support clients with their corporate/ M&A and transactional needs, particularly in the energy and mining sector.
• Martina Storgato joined in September with more than 15 years’ experience as a leader and founder of a boutique family law practice in Sydney.
  “By joining forces with a leading national law firm, I’m able to offer my clients a range of complementary services that only a large firm can provide,” Martina said.
  Mills Oakley family law partner Susan Warda said Martina and her team will add valuable capability to the firm’s offering. “Martina’s appointment highlights the strong growth Mills Oakley has enjoyed in the family law space. It further cements our position as a leading national law firm in Australia.”
• Patrick Walsh – as a Workplace Relations lawyer, Patrick joined Mills Oakley last month from DW Fox Tucker in Adelaide, where he specialised in workplace health and safety and employment law for almost a decade. Patrick is keen to help establish the Mills Oakley brand in South Australia, with the firm’s Adelaide office open since February this year. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be part of a firm clearly on the rise,” he said.

The latest recruits follow the firm’s announcement last month that several key members of MinterEllison’s public law team led by Julian Pinder and David Maclaren are joining Mills Oakley.
