Can you share a bit about yourself?

I graduated from Deakin University with a double degree in International Studies and Law, with a focus on human rights. I’m really interested in exploring areas of law where I can bring these two fields together – especially where I can help make a difference on issues that matter globally.

What matters most to you as you start your career?

As I commence my career, I’m focused on building a legal practice that’s grounded in ethical responsibility and professional excellence. I’m committed to developing clear communication and sound judgement, particularly when things get challenging. I value constructive feedback and see it as an essential part of continually improving on my skills. Above all, I hold myself to high personal standards and strive to contribute to a culture of accountability and integrity within the profession.

You’ve completed a clerkship with us – how was that experience, and do you have any advice for future clerks?

My experience in the Mills Oakley clerkship program was really formative and confirmed my strong interest in commercial legal practice. I gained a clear understanding of the high standards of legal work expected and the discipline required to deliver it.

For anyone thinking about a clerkship with Mills Oakley, my advice is to be proactive and stay organised, ask thoughtful questions – curiosity is great, but clarity is key – and focus on learning by showing your judgement in how you approach tasks.

How has the clerkship influenced your career path or shaped your interests within law?

The experience in the Mills Oakley clerkship program really helped clarify my interest in areas that combine legal analysis with ethical considerations – like litigation, regulatory compliance, and professional conduct. It also strengthened my skills in legislative interpretation and statutory advisory work. Most importantly, it reinforced how essential it is to work in a firm that truly values ethical practice and professional integrity.

What kind of work have you been involved in as a junior lawyer?

During my time in the Mills Oakley clerkship program, I assisted with legal research, drafted affidavits, and prepared advice memos. I also worked on drafting court submissions and even sought leave to instruct in Court. My work covered a range of issues, including directors’ duties, trust accounting, and enforcement options in litigation. I was involved in discovery and document review processes, always aiming to understand not just the legal frameworks but also the practical implications for clients.
