Workers Narrowly Escape Death as Gate Spears Motor Vehicle at Entrance to Mine Site

February, 2017

This Information Release produced last week by the NSW Department of Industry Resources Regulator is a timely reminder that poor and wet weather conditions are a well-known risk to the mining and construction industries, as well as to the general public. It demonstrates the risks associated with driving a motor-vehicle in bad weather, and the potentially catastrophic consequences associated with failing to take appropriate care and to give sufficient consideration to the implementation and observance of necessary safeguards to protect you and your workers from risk of death or injury when driving a motor vehicle in wet conditions. If you are not sure how to manage the health and safety risks in your workplace, please do not delay in taking guidance from an expert. You can very easily access helpful information at How to Manage Health & Safety Risks – Code of Practice published on the Safe Work Australia website, or by speaking directly with me at Mills Oakley. In the meantime, please drive safely!
