Troy Palmer is a Special Counsel in our Melbourne office working in the Private Advisory team. Troy has particular expertise in estate planning and estate litigation.

Troy brings a wealth of experience from delivering advice to high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals in relation to succession planning. Troy sits among the select few Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialists in Wills and Estates, thus is well qualified to provide strategic advice and documentation on all estate planning aspects of individual and family wealth protection and transfer.

Troy has acted for and provided advice in relation to:

  • Applications to admit to probate an unsigned will;
  • Contested intestacies;
  • Challenges to wills for further provision and advising executors defending such challenges;
  • Complicated probate and intestacy applications (eg. disputed capacity of will maker, informal wills);
  • Removal of attorneys;
  • Benjamin Orders relating to missing beneficiary;
  • Admission of copy wills to probate;
  • Disputes between executors;
  • Estate Planning for clients with disabled beneficiaries;
  • Estate Planning for clients with “at risk” beneficiaries whom may not be financially able or have dependency problems; and
  • Estate Planning for clients with concerns about child’s spouse.

Troy has been widely published in newspapers across the Country, in both law journals and technical magazines. He has also been involved in radio sessions providing commentary in relation to estate planning and litigation.

Troy has been recommended in the 2016 Doyles Guide listing of Wills & Estates Litigation Rising Stars.
