Matt is a special counsel in our Melbourne Office working in Corporate Advisory with extensive experience in project finance and projects, in a wide diversity of asset classes.  Matt specialises in advising clients on the full range of documentation relating to the establishment and development of projects and their assets.

Matt has worked on numerous significant transactions involving traditional generation and renewable energy projects, mining and commodities, toll-roads, transmission and distribution infrastructure and FPSO floating oil refineries.

Matt has acted for both sponsors and lenders on novel, large-scale cross-border projects involving multiple stakeholders, in numerous regions including Australia, Latin America and South-East Asia.  For example, he acted for the Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC) in the US$1.2 billion financing of the acquisition by Japanese sponsors of 5 Mexican combined cycle gas turbine plants, pipeline and associated operating companies.  He also advised JBIC on the $895 million limited and no recourse co-financing with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) of a toll-road in Sao Paulo, the first ever toll-road project financing for JBIC.  Matt also advised Eraring Energy on long-term coal supply agreements worth more than A$ 3 billion, including subsequent re-negotiation of supplier agreements.
