Gerard is a Partner in our Sydney office working the in the areas of Commercial Disputes & Insolvency. He possesses over 20 years’ experience acting for Australian and international clients.

Gerard brings a wealth of experience including; all facets of insolvency and regularly advises hedge funds, banking syndicates, insolvency practitioners and funders to maximise the outcome for all stakeholders. His clients include both domestic and foreign insolvency practitioners, overseas bond holders, foreign banks and financial institutions.

He has acted in many of Australia’s largest insolvency matters including the Darling Harbourside Shopping and Restaurant Complex owned by the Beville Group; where he acted for a syndicate of banks, in the restructure of the Cubbie Station acting for a European hedge fund and Shandong Ruyi, Gunns Limited where he acted for a foreign bank, and Redbank Powerstation as part of the Alinta Group restructuring. Gerard also acted in Lachlan Star, where he acted for a U.S. hedge fund in relation to the second largest gold mine in Chile.

Throughout his career, Gerard has been recognized for his outstanding contributions in the law industry including being ranked as a recommended lawyer in Restructuring & Insolvency in 2016 by Asia Pacific Legal 500; as well as being ranked as a leading lawyer in Restructuring & Insolvency in 2012 and 2013 by Chambers Asia Pacific.
