Chris is a special counsel in our Brisbane office working in the Government and Administrative Law team.

Chris is uniquely attuned to the needs of his government clients having over 10 years’ experience working in the public sector, most recently as a Deputy General Counsel in the Department of Human Services.  There he developed a particular passion for child support law and by extension, family law. Chris’ expertise in the highly sensitive and complex area of child support is well recognised, together with his ability to assist individuals dealing with the consequences of separation.

Chris brings a wealth of experience in advising Commonwealth Officers and Departments on merits and judicial review litigation, the development and implementation of government policy initiatives and sound decision making procedures. He regularly appears as solicitor advocate on behalf of the Commonwealth in appeals on a question of law to the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court and merits review applications to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Chris also has comprehensive knowledge of the Commonwealth’s broader policy objectives and operating environment and is keenly aware of the obligations created by the Legal Services Directions 2017.

Chris provides his clients with a strategic, practical and tailored service. He develops strong relationships of trust and works with each client to achieve their desired outcome.
