Mills Oakley Lawyers

Taxation Law Print

Tax is a significant expense for businesses and individuals and permeates both commercial and private transactions alike. It makes commercial sense to ensure that your affairs are structured effectively from the outset to provide “sleep at night” solutions. Taxation planning is best undertaken before you embark on any significant transaction. Taxation planning is crucial in assisting to build your wealth or your business and remaining competitive locally and globally.  Due to broad anti tax avoidance provisions at a state, federal and international level, planning has to be integrated within a dominant and meaningful commercial and business plan that is not “tax driven”.

We strive to provide you with comprehensive solutions to address not only tax implications but more importantly commercial implications. We give you simple to understand advice in an area of law that is over-complicated and ever changing.

Mills Oakley provides clients with the full range of taxation law services including:

  • Income tax, capital gains tax, stamp duty, land tax, payroll tax and all other direct and indirect taxes at federal and state level
  • Buying, selling or restructuring a business or ownership of property
  • Undertaking a commercial venture or project
  • International expansion including transfer pricing, thin capitalisation rules and issues arising under the OECD double tax treaty
  • Injecting equity or debt into a business or investment or remaining working capital
  • Expanding or restructuring an enterprise for a trade sale or IPO

Client feedback

"I have worked with Jack Stuk professionally for some years and have been impressed by his incredible working knowledge of Tax Law and his ability to apply it to a client's situation for their benefit.  He is one of very few Lawyers I have worked with able to relate to clients on any level and then apply his technical ability to their problems and opportunities.  He is highly intelligent, personable and extremely quick to get his mind around quite complex scenarios.  I would strongly recommend him to potential clients".
